## What It Is

GLOW is a proprietary compounding formulation designed for skin health and aesthetic enhancement, typically containing a blend of peptides, antioxidants, and skin-supportive nutrients. Formulations vary by compounding pharmacy but commonly include glutathione (a master antioxidant involved in skin lightening and oxidative stress reduction), biotin, vitamin C, and sometimes cosmetic peptides such as GHK-Cu or collagen-stimulating peptides. Glutathione, the most common active component, has been studied for its skin-lightening effects — a 2017 randomized controlled trial of oral glutathione (500 mg/day for 12 weeks) showed modest reductions in melanin index scores compared to placebo, particularly in sun-exposed areas. IV glutathione infusions, which are popular in aesthetic clinics, bypass first-pass metabolism and produce higher peak levels, though clinical evidence for IV routes is limited to small, non-randomized studies. As a proprietary compounded preparation, GLOW does not have a standardized formulation, peer-reviewed combination data, or FDA approval. The term 'GLOW' is a marketing name used by various clinics and compounding pharmacies, and specific ingredients and concentrations vary significantly between providers.
